The American Academy of Dramatic Arts Appoints a New Trustee

March 31, 2011 Michael Gardner, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, has announced the addition of a new Trustee, Jane Heffner.

Jane Heffner is the first-ever Development Director at the Columbia University Medical Center, Department of Ophthalmology. Ms. Heffner is a philanthropic management professional, and holds degrees from Bryn Mawr and Harvard. She has expertise both as a grant maker and as a resource development officer. She pioneered corporate giving in the securities industry as the First Vice President and Director of Corporate Philanthropy at Salomon Smith Barney, and its predecessor, Salomon Brothers. Prior to her work at Smith Barney, Ms. Heffner directed the development efforts of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Guggenheim Museum and served as an administrative officer at the Ford Foundation. In addition to her current work at Columbia, she serves on the advisory board of Studio in a School.


The American Academy of Dramatic Arts Appoints Six New Trustees

November 22, 2010 Michael Gardner, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, has announced the addition of six new Trustees, a slate of distinguished leaders in the entertainment industry and in business.

With the expansion of the Board of Trustees to include producers, artists and global business leaders, The Academy will continue to benefit from a diversity of expertise while providing its students with the excellence in actor training for which The Academy has been known for over a century.

The new members include:

Sam Robards has been a working actor for 30 years. He has worked in all disciplines of the acting profession and was nominated for the Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award for his role in Arthur Miller's, The Man Who Had All the Luck. He continues to serve as a National Director on the National Board of Screen Actors Guild, is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and is the son of two Academy graduates, Jason Robards and Lauren Bacall.

Mr. Robards is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College.

Donald Rosenfeld is an Emmy and Peabody Award winning film producer, with 25 years experience and 30 feature length films to date. From 1987-1998, Mr. Rosenfeld ran Merchant Ivory productions, producing such multi Academy Award winning films as Howard's End and The Remains of the Day.

In 1999, Mr. Rosenfeld founded High Line Pictures, making films such as 40 Shades of Blue, which won the Grand Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and Anton Chekhov's the Duel. High Line Pictures is currently in pre-production on Effie, screenplay by Emma Thompson and which will be directed by Alan Rudolph.

Mr. Rosenfeld currently serves on the non-profit board of The Helen Bamber Foundation and the Armitage Ballet.

Peter C. Allan developed one of New York's leading entertainment law practices and became a leading practitioner in the field of World Music, representing numerous international stars and successful niche labels.

Mr. Allan has served as a Mentor in the Vermont Law School Semester in Practice program and as a guest lecturer for the entertainment law electives at NYU Law School and at the Georgetown University Law Center. He currently serves as general counsel to Mgmt One, a sports agency and entertainment branding company with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Cincinnati. He has represented writers, producers and artists whose albums have collectively sold over 30 million units.

Mr. Allan is a cum laude graduate of Middlebury College and Georgetown University Law Center.

Mark E. Landesman, CPA is the Founder and President of MLM, a management company established to provide business management, tax and accounting services to individuals and business entities throughout the entertainment industry. Mr. Landesman began his career at a New York accounting firm in 1981. In 1988 he left the firm to become the Vic President and CFO of Eddie Murphy Productions. MLM has maintained a unique reputation throughout the industry because of the lifelong relationships built with their clients.

In 2002 Mr. Landesman was asked to become a Board Member of Republic Airways holding, a publicly held company. He served on that Board until October 2009.

Mr. Landesman is a graduate of Queens College.

James W. Fuller has been involved in the securities business for over 40 years, beginning his career in small cap research and institutional sales at several notable firms including J. Barth and Company, Dean Witter, and Shields and Company.

Mr. Fuller was a Senior VP of NYSE from 1976 to 1981 after which he served for several years as Director of Securities Investor Protection Corp while working as a senior VP of Charles Schwab & Co. He served as Director of the Reagan Business Advisory Panel and was a member of the Bush Technology Advisory Business Committee. He was as a member of the California Republican Party's executive committee and a vice chairman of the Republican Central Committee and a board member at The University of California at Santa Cruz for twelve years. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at the Lincoln Club in California.

Mr. Fuller holds a BS from California State University, San Jose and MBA from California State University.

Gianluca Cicogna worked with the Zanett group in New York where he was involved in advising and investing in early stage public companies. Prior to Zanett he worked with Casco Track Limited, a boutique investment bank based in Hong Kong. While at Casco Track, Mr. Cicogna was involved in telecoms transactions across Asia, including participating in the launch of Cavite Cable Corporation, the first fiber optic cable TV business in the Philippines; and in Orion Telecom Corporation, the largest independent telecommunications service provider in South Africa.

Mr. Cicogna graduated from Buckingham University in Economics (with honors).

The American Academy of Dramatic Arts is a not-for-profit institution with campuses located in a landmark Stanford White building in New York City and on the site of what was once the Charlie Chaplin Studios in Los Angeles, California.

Founded in 1884, the goal of the Academy is to nurture talented, hardworking students on their journey to becoming fully developed actors. Our alumni making significant contributions in the areas of public service and education include Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, Georgia Neese, the first woman Treasurer of the United States, and author and lecturer Dale Carnegie.
