The American Academy of Dramatic Arts is a non-profit educational institution chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. Academy credits are transferable to colleges throughout the United States. The numbers depend upon the amount earned, the student's choice of college, entry requirements and the desired degree.
Los Angeles Accreditation
The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles is accredited by
MSCHE, a unit of the
Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, 215-662-5606, as a branch campus of The Academy New York.
The National Association of Schools of Theatre, 11230 Roger Bacon Drive, Reston, VA 22090, 703-437-0700, accredits both campuses of the Academy. Students completing the Professional Training Program receive an Associate of Arts Degree in Acting (requiring 18 credits of General Education, 9 of which are included in the Academy's curriculum) when they transfer or complete 9 additional credits with a minimum of C in each course (3 in Natural Sciences, 3 in Psychology and 3 in English Composition) from an accredited college or a Certificate of Completion. Academy students have up to four years after their graduation to complete the required courses for their A.A. degree.
