1940's

Lauren Bacall
The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present an Honorary Award to actress Lauren Bacall (1942), at the Academy's inaugural Governors Awards event Nov. 14 at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center.

The Honorary Award, an Oscar statuette, is given to an individual for "extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the Academy."

Lauren Bacall was last on Broadway in Waiting in the Wings. She earned Tony Awards for her performances in the Broadway musicals Applause and Woman of the Year and also appeared in Goodbye Charlie and Cactus Flower. Among her celebrated screen credits are To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, Key Largo, How to Marry a Millionaire, Written on the Wind, The Mirror Has Two Faces, and Dogville.

1970's

Cristina Fontanelli (1977), an opera singer, performed in NYC's Columbus Day Parade.

Joseph Wise (1977) performs in the new Rob Thomas video, "Give me the Meltdown." Joseph also appears in the new television series Men of a Certain Age.

1980's

Hélène Cardona (1989) recently taped the role of the French reporter on The Bold and The Beautiful. Hélène is a member of the Edgemar Theater Company in Santa Monica.

Jennifer Coolidge (1982) plays Genevieve in the feature film Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans which competed at the Venice Film Festival and had special presentations at the Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals.

Johanna Day
Johanna Day (1984) is starring in The Quality of Life at Arena Stage in Arlington, VA.

Gwynne Gigon (1989) is a Vice President, US Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management.

Elias Koteas
Elias Koteas (1983) plays a serial killer in the feature film I Come With the Rain.

Steven Sendor (1995) is the Managing Director of Esses Media, Inc. a media production company.

1990's

Eion Bailey
Eion Bailey (1996) stars in the feature film The Canyon.

Elizabeth Bowen (1994) is a performer with The Vancouver Theatre Sports League.

Adrienne Haan (1999) is performing The Streets of Berlin, a musical-historical chanson evening at the Duplex in NYC. Later this month Adrienne will perform at The Metropolitan Room in Narcissa & Goldmund.

Taylor Mac
Taylor Mac (1996) is performing in Lily's Revenge, a five part extravaganza featuring live music, wild costumes, vaudevillian theatrics, macabre entre-actes, a million sequins and a few flowers, at HERE Art Space in NYC.

David Snelgrove
David Snelgrove (1997) is currently playing Dorante in The Game of Love and Chance at the Neptune Theatre in Halifax.

2000's

Krystal Blackman (2006) appeared in The Voices in Your Head for the Bizarre Noir Theatre Company in NYC.

Karen Brelsford (2008) is on stage at the Beckmann Theatre in NYC playing the role of Linda in Jellyroll Shoes.

Jennifer Ewing (2009) was in a production of Henry V for the Queens's Players in NYC.

Yohanna Idha Hedlund (2004) is performing in a Scandinavian tour with The Theater Machine.

Leslie Ivarson
Leslie Ivarson (2008) discussed the moment she decided to become an actor in the "The Last Word" column in the Aug 27 edition of Backstage.

Ary Katz (2005) completed work on an episode of CSI: Miami. Ary has also written, produced, directed and starred in an indie film, Stuck in the Corners.

Sergey Nagorny (2006) and R.J. Passetti (2006) are producing and performing in The Credeaux Canvas for Aeternalis Theatre, a company which they founded. Performances will be at the Gene Frankel Theatre in NYC.

Aaron Sholomenko (2008) performed in Spring's Awakening at Roy Arias Studio in NYC.


Faculty

Lester Shane was the subject of an article, "The Truth is in the Text" in the October 15-21 issue of Backstage.
