LOS ANGELES

STUDY IN THE CENTER OF THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY

The Academy’s Los Angeles campus is centrally located. The campus is built on what was once the south lot of Charlie Chaplin’s studios and is near all the major television and film studios. It is a state-of-the-art facility, with classrooms, acting studios, a costume and prop shop, plus a television studio. The adjacent Movement and Vocal Production building houses two dance studios, rehearsal and classroom space and a scene shop. The campus also includes a theatre complex with a black box theatre for rehearsals as well as full productions.
The library, like the one in New York, is specially geared for the needs of the performer. Located in one of the historic, original Chaplin Studio bungalows, it holds a comprehensive collection of books, scripts, musical scores, video and audio tapes, plus a wide variety of
reference materials on every aspect of theatre. There are also listening stations for audio tapes and a viewing room for videos.

And then there’s Los Angeles...still the undisputed entertainment capital of the world. Los Angeles remains the heart and soul of this “industry town.” But L.A. is changing. It is now home to more small theatres, independent theatre companies and alternative venues, as well as art galleries, collectives and museums, than ever before. The city is transforming itself into one of the most exciting and vital creative communities in the country.
