The Academy offers part-time programs
in New York for those who want to study in a professional
training environment, but who may not find it possible to
commit to full-time training.
The Evening Program in New York
is a part-time, two year acting program for adults, offering
in abridged form a curriculum employing all the basic principles
and practices on which the Academy is founded. Its purpose
is to afford the finest type of professional training available
to those who find it necessary, or preferable, to attend classes
during the evening hours, at a modest cost. The first year
curriculum is comprised of classes in acting technique and
scene study, Voice & Speech and Movement for the actor.
The second year is by invitation; students are cast in a minimum
of three full-length plays and rehearse and perform in one
of the three Academy theatres. Workshops may be offered in
such areas as Acting for the Camera, Alexander Technique,
Career Counseling, Fencing, Singing, Speech and Movement.
The student body of the Evening Program is a vital group of
people of all ages and backgrounds, united by an interest
in acting.
Admission to The Evening Program is by means of an interview and cold reading audition with the Director of Evening Division. There are three 12-week terms in each year, and each term is by invitation. Students may enter a first term class in September, January or April, meeting two nights each week. Tuition is $815 for each term. Applicants must have a High School diploma or have completed a GED. Upon Graduation, students receive the Academy's Certificate of Completion.
