Avenue, in midtown Manhattan is centrally
located within the rich variety of theatres, films, museums,
restaurants, stores, people and
parks that has made New York one of the most exciting cities
in the world.
The landmark building was designed by Stanford White and completed
in 1907.
The six-story structure has classrooms, rehearsal halls, dance
studios, dressing rooms,
a prop department and production workshop, a costume department,
a library and a
student lounge. Three theatres--a 169 seat proscenium theater,
a 164 seat thrust-stage
theatre and an arena-style theatre seating 103-are used for
classes and rehearsals as
well as full productions.
